Title: Board Work Session

The Tuckahoe School Board of Trustees Work Session was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Robert E. Grisnik, Chairman.

The following Board members and District officials were present:

Sean Hattrick, Vice-Chairman
Dr. Daniel Crough, Trustee

  Dr. Allan Gerstenlauer, Interim Superintendent
Dr. Philip Kenter, School Business Official
Linda Springer, District Clerk

I. Pledge of Allegiance

II. Approval of Minutes

RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on October 11, 2016.

Approve:  Motion made by Sean Hattrick, seconded by Daniel Crough, and unanimously carried.

III. Correspondence

1. Mr. Grisnik updated the Board on correspondence received from the Law Offices of Stanley Orzechowski regarding the Article 78 action against the Town of Southampton.

IV. Superintendent’s Report

1. Dr. Gerstenlauer updated the Board on the status of the Corrective Action Plan (C.A.P.),  which the administration is in the process of structuring.

V. New Business - None

VI. Old Business

1. Dr. Gerstenlauer requested Board approval to attend the New York State Education Department Native American Education Conference on November 29, 2016.

2. Mr. Grisnik announced that a Public Hearing will be held at 7:15 p.m. on November 14, 2016 to discuss the Cold War Veteran Tax Exemption.

VII. Public Commentary

Mary-Alice Halsey thanked the Board, Mitch Sobczyk, the staff and students for supporting the Tuckahoe Education Foundation 5K/10K race on October 22, 2016.

VIII. Resolutions (For Approval)

Approve:  Motion made by Daniel Crough, seconded by Sean Hattrick and unanimously carried; BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees hereby approves the following resolutions numbered 1 through 3. 

Finance

1. RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the extra classroom activity request of Grades 7 and 8 to participate in a Wreath Sale Fundraiser from October 25, 2016 through November 9, 2016 to raise funds for the annual Washington D.C. trip.

2. RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the extra classroom activity request of the National Junior Honor Society to participate in the KidStuff Coupon Book fundraiser from October 25, 2016 through November 7, 2016 to raise funds to support National Junior Honor Society events.

3. RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the participation of the Superintendent of Schools to attend the New York State Education Department Native American Education Conference in Syracuse, New York on November 29, 2016 at an approximate cost to the district of $615.

IX. Resolution – For Discussion Only

Finance

4. RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees approves the Special Education Services Contract between the Tuckahoe Common School District and the Southampton Union Free School District, for the education of special education students in the elementary and intermediate grades for which the Tuckahoe Common School District is unable to provide; effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.

X. Executive Session

At 7:47 p.m., Sean Hattrick made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss Personnel and Contractual Matters, seconded by Daniel Crough and unanimously carried.

At 8:25 p.m., the Board came out of Executive Session and passed the following resolution.

5. RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees appoints LuAnn Leno, P.T., P. C. to provide school age students physical therapy sessions for the 2016/2017 school year at the following rates:

30 minute 1:1 session – Certified PT Assistant - $65.00
30 minute 1:1 session – Registered PT - $70.00
30-minute group session – Certified PT Assistant - $85.00
30-minute group session – Registered PT - $90.00
Evaluations - $300.00 per evaluation
Consults -  $50.00 per consult

Approve:  Motion made by Daniel Crough, seconded by Sean Hattrick, and unanimously carried.
