The Board of Education held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2005. The business and personnel items were approved in their entirety. In addition to its regular business, the Board of Education took action on the following items:
_Accepted the recommendations of the Committee on Special Education.
_Approved a leave of absence of full-time teaching personnel.
_Approved the 2006-07 Budget Development Calendar.
_Approved 2005-06 extracurricular clubs and activities.
_Approved coaching assignments for the 2005-06 school year.
_Adopted revised Policy #6700 - Purchasing.
_Approved the establishment of the Thomas G. Ericksen Memorial Scholarship.
_Approved a revised mileage reimbursement rate for the 2005-06 school year.
_Accepted with gratitude a donation from the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce to transport the Sachem Marching Band to a dedication.
_Approved the appointment of a District Medical Consultant.
_Approved a resolution to re-appoint emergency conditional appointments.
_Accepted with gratitude a donation from Simplex Grinnell to Sachem High School East.
_Approved a resolution appealing the decision of an impartial hearing officer.
•The Board of Education discussed the following:

•The Board of Education recognized the following individuals:
(1)Business Teachers - National Award-Middle School Career Development Program
(2)Anne Monnier - Suffolk County Science Teachers Association - Middle Leave Science Teacher of the Year Award.
(3)Charles Jabbonsky and Joan Herrmann - selected as the NYS English Council 2005 Educator of Excellence Award.
(4)Dr. James A. Ruck - Retiring as Superintendent of Schools after 25 years in the Sachem Central School District.
The Board of Education has scheduled the following meetings:
(1)Thursday, October 6, 2005 - Work Session Meeting at 8 pm at Sagamore Middle School.
(2)Tuesday, October 18, 2005 - Regular Meeting at 8 pm at Sagamore Middle School.
